Welcome to Preston’s Peaches, our newest adventure.  You may be wondering, “What is Preston’s Peaches?”.  Well, we are just beginning to work on that and would like to share how this dream began, and then hopefully have you follow along as we learn about and grow peaches, here in Bridgeport, Texas.

 

              I am Janel Preston.  I’m a wife, mom, retired teacher, full time homemaker, and the one who prays without ceasing.  I prayed to have Kenneth work closer to home and not have to travel so often.  Well, now I am a farmer, along with my husband and we work in the backyard, a 25 acre, soon to be peach orchard.

 

              Kenneth, my husband, is an avid Seinfeld fan.  He was watching an episode where Kramer was eating a peach, a very juicy and messy “Mackinaw” peach.  He became curious about this peach and started researching all things peaches.  He researched terrain, soil, species, irrigation, life span, pollination and so on and so on and so on.  That is just the kind of guy he is.  Come to find out, the Mackinaw peach is fictional but, the pit had been planted and Kenneth decided to have his own peach orchard.  So, that was the inception of Preston’s Peaches. We know our first harvest in which we will see the fruits of our labor will be a few years down the road, but our journey has already begun. No turning back now and we are so excited for this adventure.
